If your work is not satisfying or exhilarating—it could be and should be!
Join a mix of inspiring women for intimate and engaging small group discussions. Gain lots of encouragement to try new things. Explore hundreds of career ideas and exciting career fields. If you’ve been away from work and undecided about what to do, thinking of switching fields or trying your own business, this session is for you.
Loving your work is empowering; it gives you confidence and energy. When you use your strengths and passions, your work is often satisfying and you have a greater chance of advancing your career. A real tragedy that undermines women’s careers and prevents them from achieving maximum success is the wrong job fit. Another issue blocking many women from moving ahead is not using a sponsor advocate. Research shows it is more difficult to grow and rise to the top without an advocate or fulfilling work. But you absolutely can!
Objective. Help women clarify their career goals by learning a six-step career launch process and using key advancement strategies to optimize their growth. The workshop is an opportunity to have conversations with smart women who are eager to connect with other women to attain a satisfying career.
Who attends? All women who believe their career advancement is more than luck; it requires focus and a strategic plan. The workshop is for career minded women changing from one type of work to another, or moms who have decided to come back to the workplace to turn a “job” into a satisfying career. The Women’s Career Makeover Workshop will get you there faster than planning a career change on your own.
*A recent study by Sylvia Ann Hewlett at the Center for Work-Life Policy and Harvard Business Review Research, Jan. 2011 reports women’s failure to acquire the backing they need to attain higher positions, holds women back from advancement.
Women are only half as likely as their male peers to have a sponsor. The study found that women underestimate the role sponsorship plays in their advancement.
“The Sponsor Effect” defines a sponsor as someone who advocates for a protégé’s next promotion as well as doing at least two of the following: expanding the perception of what the protégé can do; making connections to senior leaders or outside influential contacts; promoting visibility; opening up career opportunities. Mentors offer friendly advice. Sponsors pull you up to the next level.
